Christmas can be tough for anyone, no matter where they are in life. That’s why in 2022, Leeds Mind put together a festive fundraising initiative to bring colour to someone this Christmas. The goal was to collect funds that would go towards supporting Leeds Mind’s vital mental health work.
The fantastic initiative was open to local businesses, community groups and individuals in the Leeds and West Yorkshire regions.
In a bespoke illustration created by the artist Jenni Sparks, supporters had the chance to ‘colour in’ some of Leeds’ most iconic landmarks and symbols, including Elland Road Football Stadium, The Corn Exchange, Headingley Stadium and even Nicola Adams’ boxing gloves. Donations started from just £5 and were collected via JustGiving, making it easy for everyone to get involved and make a difference.
“Christmas can be a really hard time of year, whether that’s down to financial strain, the pressure to live up to expectations, loneliness, family stress, remembering those no longer around…the list goes on. That’s why we love the sentiment behind this fundraising campaign – it’s about making sure that everyone knows it’s OK not to be OK, even at Christmas. And if they’re not OK, they know that Leeds Mind is here to offer support.”
– Leeds Mind
As proud supporters of Leeds Mind, we decided to jump right in and make a colourful impact! We took it upon ourselves to add colour to a few well-known regional landmarks. Over the course of a few weeks, we brought illustrations to life at Leeds University, The First Direct Arena and even Leeds Bradford Airport.
We couldn’t be happier to be a part of such a meaningful cause, by spreading positivity and brightness throughout our beloved city! We donated a total of £200 across three landmarks.
We hope that Leeds Mind’s heart-warming campaign, ‘Add Colour to Someone’s Christmas’, has made a difference for those who might have been going through a tough time in their life.
