Perform Partners is a member of the West Yorkshire Fair Work Charter, joining employers across the region committed to creating fair, inclusive and supportive places to work.

Created by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, the Charter encourages employers across the region to continually review and improve their working practices. It is built around five principles: opportunity, fulfilment, wellbeing, security and employee voice.

For Perform Partners, membership reflects principles that already shape how we work while providing a useful framework for continuing to develop them.

What fair work means in West Yorkshire

The West Yorkshire Fair Work Charter was created around a simple ambition: people should have access to work where they are treated fairly, supported and given the opportunity to contribute and develop.

Its five pillars consider different parts of that experience. Opportunity covers inclusive routes into employment and development. Fulfilment considers learning, purpose and progression. Wellbeing includes physical and mental health. Security encompasses safe and predictable working conditions, including the Real Living Wage. Employee voice recognises the importance of people being able to contribute to the organisations they work within.

The Charter also recognises that fair work can benefit the organisations adopting it. The West Yorkshire Combined Authority points to stronger staff satisfaction, retention, productivity and sustainable growth as potential benefits of better working practices.

Building on principles already important to us

Membership of the Charter complements work already taking place across Perform Partners.

Our commitment to workplace wellbeing has developed over several years, including our relationship with Leeds Mind and the Leeds Mindful Employer Network, internal wellbeing activity and our commitment to the Mindful Employer Charter.

We have also introduced a paid volunteering day, giving people across the business time to support causes that matter to them, while employee voice continues to inform how we understand and improve the experience of working at Perform Partners.

These activities have different purposes, but they share an important principle: creating a good working environment requires continued attention rather than a one-off initiative.

Joining the Charter gives us another framework through which to reflect on that progress and identify where we can continue to improve. Perform Partners’ original membership announcement similarly described the Charter as both recognition of positive steps already being taken and a framework for further development.

Part of the West Yorkshire business community

There is also something important to us about the Charter being rooted in West Yorkshire.

Perform Partners was founded in the region and remains closely connected to the business, technology and community networks around us. Membership of the West Yorkshire Fair Work Charter connects us with a wider network of employers that are considering many of the same questions about people, wellbeing and the future of work.

That network is an important part of the Charter. Members have access to peer networks and learning resources designed to help organisations learn from one another and continue improving their working practices.

For a region with ambitions around inclusive and sustainable economic growth, those connections matter. Better working practices contribute to businesses where people can develop, contribute and build sustainable careers, while supporting the wider strength of the West Yorkshire economy.

Good work supports good delivery

At Perform Partners, delivery excellence is one of the standards we expect of ourselves.

The environment in which people work is part of that picture. Giving people a voice, supporting wellbeing, investing in development and creating fair working conditions all contribute to the circumstances in which people can do good work consistently.

This matters internally, but it also matters to the clients and partners our teams work alongside. The standards we apply to our own organisation influence how our people collaborate, take responsibility and contribute when they become part of a wider client team.

Our own Fair Work Policy reflects that connection, recognising fair work as important both to our people and to building trust and sustainable outcomes with customers and partners.

Membership of the Charter therefore sits comfortably alongside the standards we already expect across the business.

Continuing to learn and improve

Joining the West Yorkshire Fair Work Charter recognises progress, but the Charter is designed around continuous improvement. Participating employers are encouraged to assess where they are, use the available tools and guidance, and periodically reassess their progress.

That is how we intend to approach our membership.

We are pleased to be part of the Charter and its community of West Yorkshire employers, and we look forward to continuing to learn, contribute and improve the experience we create for the people who work with us.
